Glenaulin Nursing Home

The right care, every step of the way

We believe our residents deserve the right care from an experienced team with the best credentials. But at Glenaulin, our staff are more than just professionals. They are friends and confidantes who develop caring relationships with residents, making day-to-day life more fulfilling for everyone.

Our award-winning reputation for high quality staff is based on our bedrock commitment to care. The online Glenaulin Training Academy gives staff access to the latest techniques and developments in the nursing care industry, and specially trained teams are employed to care for vulnerable residents with more acute needs.

High dependency unit

It can be very traumatic when a family member experiences a sudden decline in their physical and mental health. Our high dependency units are designed to provide extra care 24 hours a day, so that you can feel reassured your loved one is given all the support they need.

Often, residents may be transitioning from hospital to a nursing home environment, which can be a difficult emotional time for everyone. You can trust our qualified team to respect a resident’s dignity and independence at all times, while making sure their care needs are properly assessed and maintained. A dedicated nurse’s station adjacent to the unit ensures residents can be closely monitored at all times.

Stories from

Award-winning activities program

Physical and mental wellness are at the heart of our approach to daily life at Glenaulin. Our award-winning Social and Recreational Programme is based on research – and our experience – that people are happiest when they are engaged and stimulated. There are a wealth of activities available to keep residents sharp and active, and foster their creativity and self-expression. Our personal activity coordinator also helps each resident develop a fulfilling and meaningful activities plan, based on their capabilities and interests.

All our residents are encouraged to stay as active as possible. Communal exercise sessions offer plenty of opportunities for fun and laughter, helping to build areal sense of belonging.

Choosing the right care

We understand how hard it is to make the decision to transition a loved family member or friend to a nursing home environment. We’ll do our best to make that choice as easy as possible.

We believe in building personal relationships with residents. We’ll take the time to get to know you and your loved one, and work together with you to come up with a care plan based on their individual needs.

We welcome open and honest communication with our residents’ family and friends. And as our residents’ circumstances change, we reassess their care plan and make it more relevant to their needs.

A Typical Day in St Glady's

Our morning begins with greetings from the lovely staff, always a nice start to the day.

Personal care next, to assist us in getting ready for the day ahead. I always like to look my best!! The staff help me in choosing my outfit for the day and I always like to start my morning with a shower.

Breakfast follows, either in the dining room or in our bedroom, whichever we prefer. I generally like to go to the dining room where I can catch up with my friends, but from time to time, I’ll have breakfast served in my room.

Activities take place in the Lounge/Activity Room, where there are a variety of fun activities on offer. We play bingo, do arts and crafts, have quizzes, play ball games, and listen to music.

My favourite activity is dog therapy. We have a gorgeous dog called Sandy who comes to visit every Thursday. It’s the best part of my week and I always look forward to it.

Tasty refreshments are always on offer, if we feel like having some mid-morning snacks.

Lunch is up next, where we enjoy wholesome meals cooked by the chef, and we enjoy socialising with our dining pals. I really like the food here, and I always clear my plate.

Afternoons offer a choice of siestas, activities, visits from family and friends, walks in the garden, and more refreshments.

When the weather is good, we go on outings to the Botanic Gardens or theatre. We look forward to the Summer for garden parties, and regular walks in the park. Our annual Garden Party and Christmas party are the highlights of my year

After tea we relax and watch TV or enjoy catching up with our pals and the lovely staff, before retiring to our cosy rooms for the night.
